samsung eternity 280x300 AT&T Brings Another Touch Screen Samsung Eternity

We live in the age of the touch screens, from our PCs to our handsets, the touch screens are taking over. Not necessarily an evil, no it’s more about keeping your hands and the touch screen clean. So the latest in touch screen to land is the Samsung Eternity that has just made a debut on AT&T. Let me be the very first to say that Samsung has certainly be on a roll lately. I think the taking number one spot in the US cell phone market has been a good boost of self-esteem.

Now getting to what the Eternity will bring us, well for starters, the touch screen on this phone is HUGE. I’m talking about 3.4 inches with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution and support for 262K colors. Doesn’t get any sweeter than this. The phone has a full QWERTY keyboard and also supports AT&T Mobile TV. And of course, there is the Samsung signature TouchWiz user interface that lets you personalize the phone to your heart’s content. The TouchWiz provides widgets for your favorite applications that you can keep on the screen in a tray. These widgets also extend to application that carriers may provide; meaning you will have a widget right on your screen that will take you directly to AT&T Mobile TV. A quick and simple “drag and drop” feature lets users instantly access their favorite functions, such as the clock, music player, instant messaging, photos, etc.

The chrome and black exterior are sleek and undeniably cool. There are only three physical keys on the lower portion of the phone and these make navigation a very simple task. Then there’s the built-in accelerometer that will detect motion and orientation to modify the screen display automatically to suit motion sensing games and facilitate photo scrolling.

The Eternity includes a 3.0-megapixel camera with video capture, Video Share calling, advanced messaging capabilities, including Mobile Email and instant messaging (Yahoo!, Windows Live, AOL), Bluetooth technology and a microSD memory card slot supporting up to 8GB.

The phone is available currently in stores as well as online for $149.99. This deal includes a two-year contract and a $50 mail in rebate.

    hi i was just wondering if the samsung eternity can have a texting signature. where it copies like a phrase into every text you send, like you could put your name or something as your signature.
    so i was just wondering if the samsung eternity had that cause if it does, can someone show me how you activate that?
    thx

  2. December 7th, 2008 at 09:52 | #2

    As far as i know, you can’t make a text message signature like you do for emails. you can, however, make a template text message and use that everytime after editing.

    are you sure you cant get a signiture because the guy at the store said you could

  6. February 26th, 2009 at 10:48 | #6

    @Kaitlyn

    one of the minor issues with Samsung handsets is that they don’t have a text message signature feature like WinMo phones. i don’t own a Samsung myself, but I’ve asked around and dug around too, no sign of any text message signatures. How about you asking the guy at the store if he can show you. You’ll be earning Samsung it’s next merit badge. :)

  7. February 26th, 2009 at 10:52 | #7

    @Alex

    you should be able to make a templete message or a ‘preset message’. it will be an option in your Text Message menu. you can set your name, nick name, some quote that is so-you, or anything else, as long as it’s text. Anytime you want to send a text message with your signature, you can use the templete or preset message. just go into edit mode, add your good wishes above the signature and you’re good to go.

    hope that helps. :)

    i have the eternity but i’m not sure how to do the templete thing for the signature. can you tell me how to get there??

  12. April 14th, 2009 at 02:49 | #12

    @Daypediep

    we already are in a depression or economic downturn, if the term seems nicer. hopefully the economy will lift by 2010. keep your fingers crossed the stimulus packages being poured into the economic bloodstream do the trick. OEMs and Carriers are gearing up to meet the challenge though. the smart ones know what they need to do to survive; greater bang for every buck!

  13. April 14th, 2009 at 02:51 | #13

    @Linsey

    it should be in your messaging options. i’ll check again, but that’s where the templates always are. they may be called templates or ‘pre-set’ messages. they come manufacturer installed with your handset. you may find something like ‘I’ll be late’ or “meet me for Lunch” among them. there’s always an option to create a pre-set message or template of your own. that’ where you get creative.

    The style of writing is quite familiar to me. Have you written guest posts for other blogs?

  15. April 15th, 2009 at 03:33 | #15

    I wonder if web industry affected by crisis as well? and to what extend? Will the admins continue this web?

  16. April 15th, 2009 at 09:26 | #16

    @Vince Delmonte

    nope, this is the only blog i write for. haven’t been a guest blogger anywhere either.

  17. April 15th, 2009 at 09:31 | #17

    @Idescedefut

    this blog was started last year in October. the recession was already in full swing at the time. the web is, like all industries, affected, but not so much. if a business operates solely on the web, it has less costs. on the other hand, with the recession, many online businesses aren’t finding as many customers with wallets as fat as they used to be. but the web will survive.

    as for this blog, it’s a blog written for information purposes, to bring news from the cellular industry. information has always been one of those priceless things you can’t be without. the Admins will keep this blog up and running. so keep coming back to check on us :)

    my eternity doesn’t have a template or preset in its message breec is therm any other place where it could be.

  21. April 19th, 2009 at 10:53 | #21

    @bebe

    take a look again, because Templates should be in your text message menu. they wouldn’t be/aren’t, as far as my friends tell me, anywhere else.

    Um i have a samsung eternity and the screen got scratched last night is it covered by the warranty?

  30. August 22nd, 2009 at 08:37 | #30

    @Breanna: it depends on when you got the handset, generally new handsets have a 1 year warranty.but the Samsung Eternity 1 year warranty doesn’t cover “any plastic surfaces or other externally exposed parts that are scratched or damaged due to normal use; ”

    you can check out the details at Samsung’s Warranty page for the Eternity or check with AT&T by calling at 1-800-801-1101. Hope that helps. sympathies about the scratched screen.

  33. September 7th, 2009 at 22:17 | #33

    Folks, the samsung Eternity does not have the sms signature option that you’ve seen on other Samsung devices. what i’ve explained is a way around it. but the Eternity just doest have that feature. let’s embrace the truth now. :)

    September 18th, 2009 at 23:50 | #35

    The Samsung Eternity does not have the text message signature or the text message template feature. I have confirmed it with the AT&T customer services department (which is awesome their customers services is above all…but they tend to know absolutely nothing about their cell phone products and their features. You’d think they’d have at least a small dept to ask just such questions. Instead of calling the AT&T stores and finding out that way). Plus if you look online…you can find it there as well. So again…yes the Samsung Eternity is the best phone on the market, except for that little feature…or lack there of. No need to continue to search for an answer.
    P.S. on the other hand…you can create a business card…and you can make that as simple or as complex and detailed as you want…and you can set your cell phone so that every time you send a text…your business card is included. And that then becomes your signature. So yes there is a way around it.

    just copied from my comment above :) hope it helps. it’s not like a real signature, but it’s something with your name on it. you could also try the business card idea by JhonieNoThumbs above. :)
