LG has designed and announced what it hopes will be the successor to the LG Cookie. The Cookie was a great entry level touchscreen device that paired low costs with the latest technology. If you were an individual who just wanted a touchscreen phone to be in the ‘in’ crowd, the Cookie helped you there. But with the GD510 aka the ‘Pop’ have the same success? It sure has the right features; a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, 8GB of internal storage, a 3 megapixel camera and a brushed aluminum case with a single multi-function button and a narrow 4.8mm bezel. Simple yet classy. Expect the Pop to make a European debut around mid-October. The pricing will be set by individual markets.

Useless gadget alert! The LG GD910 watch phone is ready for you UK dwellers on Orange. The handset that combines a touchscreen phone with a watch, sells for £500 (which is way more than if you bought these items separately, but like we said useless). The watch phone lets you compose text messages and make video calls, but still…too pricey. Anyway, Orange had a limited number of units on hand, and in the event you didn’t get yours, don’t jump off the bridge yet, more units will come by mid-September. Yeesh!

Still want that LG watchphone? Well we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is the LG GD910 will not cost you £1000, the bad news is, it will cost you €899 instead. This is an on-contract price. Orange has finally made the LG GD910 official, and well…we frankly hoped for more sanity. The stylish 3G touchscreen watchphone is immediately available from the French carrier if you your willing to put up with “an Origami star, first, jet or Origami plus package (12 or 24-month contract).” And to nobody’s surprise, there is no non-contract retail price listed, probably because Orange couldn’t un-choke that many people. Right so a $1300 watchphone…if you have this kind of cash to blow on a watch-that-is-a-phone you probably already have a pretty decent watch and phone in their own right. How many people out there would actually want this? For once, I’d like to see a quarterly performance report. Yeesh!

LG Canada has announced its two new handsets, the LGBliss and the Keybo2. LG also managed to leak its own handsets a few days prior to official launch, probably got tired of the blogs getting all the glory. The LGBliss, the handset on your left above, features a full 3-inch 240×400 pixel touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, video capture capability, 4 1/2 hours of talk time and a UI that even the marketing people couldn’t make look good. Bell will be getting the LGBliss and you can get it for a cool $79.95 CAD on a 3-year contract. Now for the Keybo2, you’ll find a dual-keypad clamshell with a 2.6-inch 320×240 pixel internal display and a 1.56-inch 160×96 pixel external display. Other notable specs include a 3 megapixel camera with video capture, stereo Bluetooth support and up to 5 1/3 hours of talk time. TELUS will be hosting the Keybo2 and adding it to your list of possessions will cost you $129.99 CAD on a 3-year contract. LG is tight lipped so far about the possibility of these handsets coming to other parts of the world. Enjoy Canadians. LGBliss and here

So after LG announces the very sleek looking LG BL40, the FCC goes on ahead and approves a version specially made for it (we guess). The LG BL40g. so what’s the difference between this BL40g and the BL40 we got to know earlier? Only the 850 and 1900 MHz bands of UMTS. So who could be potential carriers? We think, AT&T, Rogers and maybe even TELUS. So the good stuff is coming to this side of the world after all.

And finally the rumored addition to the Black Label series is official, presenting the LG Chocolate BL40. The handset features a 4 inch touchscreen with a 800×345 pixel display, is trimmed in pretty red and has the unusual 21:9 aspect ratio. This is one handset that you may mistake for the TV remote control. The handset will be released to 54 countries in Q3, we know squat about pricing details so make do with the official pictures.

The LG KX500 also known as ‘Cookie’ was a pretty smart choice for touchscreen fans when it came out. The reasonably priced sleek design was a sure hit and as the South Korean company just confirmed a few days ago, the Cookie sales have reached a mouth watering 5 million. According to a statement by LG Mobile Communications President and CEO Skott Ahn;
Achieving five million units in sales in only nine months is proof that we’re on track with our goal to make Cookie a phone that’s loved by everyone. Our strategy to provide a full touch screen phone at an affordable price has succeeded beyond our original expectations. If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year.
Right so LG thinks there’s more to come. Cool. With the way the economy is, an affordable, decently made touchscreen will find a place. Then again, Ahn could just be doing the ole blowing-my-own-trumpet.

It’s hardly a state secret that LG has been cooking up a few Android sets and the GW620 may be the first to run the Android OS. This is truly exiting because it means, you guessed it, Unveilings, handset unveilings! Official or otherwise new phone get us all giddy. And what’s backing this adrenaline rush is a handset profile which cites the Android browser. Specs are shady at best but are likely to include an HVGA touchscreen display, full-QWERTY keypad, Wi-Fi and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. So to LG releasing its first Android handset, “you are unique just like everyone else”.

Now if you’re one of those folks who just want that every cool new device should come to the United States, even if it is ridiculously priced or you have no intention of buying it whatsoever, then you’ve probably been steamed about the LG GD910 not coming to this side of the globe. Well, according to the FCC, the $1500 watchphone may land of U.S. soil after all. And at $1500, absolutely no one is excited! Well maybe somewhere someone who has nothing better to do with their money then maybe burn it, literally, may want this contraption, but we the people like our Benjamins where we can count ‘em. The GD910 will be covering frequencies GSM/GPRS/EDGE 1900, and we can just muster up enough careless thought to hope that LG throws in 3G, just to make the package complete.

Been a while since we had the opportunity to ogle at leaked camera work. So here it is, a whole post dedicated to the LG BL40 and BL42. Now despite looking like a big remote control, the LG BL40 is a pretty stylish handset, aimed for the oh-so-exclusive high-end of the market featuring a thin frame and 21:9 aspect ratio-rocking 4-inch touchscreen display. The BL42 is a bit of a mystery spec-wise, all we know is that it rocks a 5 megapixel camera. But we’ll be on the lookout. Enjoy the eye candy.
