Motorola Calgary Caught On Camera

motorola calgary 1 Motorola Calgary Caught On Camera

Fresh images of the Motorola Calgary have hit the web. You may remember that the Calgary is Motorola’s Android treat for Verizon, something that’s a sure win with the tween crowd. The mouth-watering live shots are courtesy of a tester who’s had the Calgary for a while now, accompanying the shots are reports that the OS is amazing, smooth and responsive, as it should be. As for Hardware, the Calgary packs three touch-sensitive Android keys on the display, a pretty decent working optical joystick, a solid QWERTY keyboard, and decent phone abilities. Among the usuals is a 3 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, GPS, digital magnetometer, Wi-Fi, microSD card slot, and spring-assisted slider. All in all, the Calgary will find a place in the hearts and pockets of Verizon users. No release date has been announced yet, but Q4 is looking to be very inviting.

Motorola Droid Set To Be Verizon’s Android Offering From Motorola

Moto Tao11 Motorola Droid Set To Be Verizons Android Offering From Motorola

Alright the news is in, not officially announced, but a pretty sound source has it that Verizon Wireless will feature the Motorola Sholes or Motorola Tao as its first straight-up Android handset. What this means is that, unlike the CLIQ, the Sholes or Tao will not feature the MOTOBLUR UI. Also, sources have it that the handset will most likely be called the Motorola Droid on Verizon. This will also be the first Google Experience handset to offer built-in Adobe Flash support. Other key features include;

  • 3.7″ screen
  • 854×480 WVGA capacitive screen
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • ARM Cortex 500MHz CPU
  • Facial recognition using the built-in camera (apparently you take a photo of someone and Google will pull in search results based on the image)
  • Custom Motorola Interface/UI, no MOTOBLUR, no Verizon UI
  • Available in black and titanium colors

There’s also talk that a keyboard-less version is slated for 2010.

Moto Tao1 First Device On Images Of The Motorola Tao aka Sholes

The Motorola Tao, codenamed Sholes (you know, the handset that has been talked about endlessly) is now back in the picture. Literally. HowardForum member wnrussel has recently posted some device-on images of the Motorola’s Android device. What do we think of the images? Awesome, cool, amazing and all other adjectives falling in this category. Very good job done Moto. Very good indeed. Verizon customers will not be disappointed. The images sadly don’t show the Tao slide open, we miss that. But the rest of the interface is … awesome. Enjoy!

Motorola CLIQ Coming To T-Mobile, And It’s DEXT For The Rest Of The World

moto cliq Motorola CLIQ Coming To T Mobile, And Its DEXT For The Rest Of The World

Motorola has come out with its much awaited Android handset, the Motorola CLIQ for T-Mobile, and Motorola DEXT for the rest of the world. Pretty much goes without saying but Motorola needed this addition to its lineup, which was getting mundane by the hour. Anyhow, the customized Android platform is what we will now call MOTOBLUR. As for specs, thankfully, there is no disappointment.  We’re looking at a 5 megapixel camera with video recording, UMTS/HSDPA, Wi-Fi, QWERTY slide-out keyboard, 3.5mm headset jack and then some. Now if there is multi-touch support, we’ll be rolling in cute bunnies.

Motorola Shules In The News, Eclair On Launch, AT&T To Feature GSM Version,

bgr moto shules21 Motorola Shules In The News, Eclair On Launch, AT&T To Feature GSM Version,

More rumors have surfaced regarding the first two Android-powered handsets from Motorola. Most of these are talking about the Shules (or Sholes) but the Flash also has a mentioning. Let’s dive in then;

  • The Shules will launch with Eclair: Donutis so early-this-year, and Motorola’s upcoming Android slider will reportedly be rocking  Eclair from the get-go. It may even be the “flagship” Eclair handset intended to showcase all of the new features Android will have obtained with Eclair’s release.
  • The Shules will be a gaming beast: The handset is optimized for ARMv7 architecture and will be able to gobble up 3D graphics and games like none other. Or atleast that’s what they are saying for now.
  • GSM version of the Shules in the works: While Verizon is slated to get the CDMA version of the Motorola Shules this year as an exclusive, there is already a GSM in the making and it should reach  AT&T, or T-Mobile, some time in 2010.
  • The Flash is still on track: One of the many handsets we scooped last year, the Flash, is still said to be making its way to Verizon and it should launch in early 2010.

This info is still in major rumor category, but it would be great if it panned out. Here’s keeping our fingers crossed.

Motorola Brings webOS For Android

motoblur Motorola Brings webOS For Android

In an interesting news bit uncovered by Fortune, it seems that Motorola is looking to bring a webOS to Android. Details go on to tell that Moto will be customizing the Android handset, pretty much in step with HTC. It will combine all personal contacts and social networking sites into a clean and easy to use interface. This OS is named ‘Blur’ by Motorola and will be heavily web-connected. This will enable Android to upgrade different sections of the OS and interface over the air. There is also word about a device key that’s attached to your email and passwords for your social networking accounts. Presumably this will let all the content be pushed right to the device from the web which includes updates and actual upgrades. Cool.

Motorola A3300, Shot And Bound For China

Fresh from China is news that Motorola is definitely not through with either Windows Mobile (or China too for that matter). The handset you see above is a petite touchscreen handset that rocks none other than WinMo itself. (Hint: check out the key at bottom left of the handset screen). The handset is the A3300 and if it makes it into the world, this will be a pure WinMo smartphone. Highlights are, as always with WinMo devices, full touchscreen form factor, touch sensitive buttons beneath the display and the presence of a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash. The A3300 will probably stay in the Chinese market and the rest of the world will just have to make do with word-of-mouth details about how absolutely fabulous it is.

motoidenrokr Sprint May Be Getting Motorola ROKR

Fresh rumor of the day; Sprint may be getting the iDEN tainted Motorola ROKR. Says who? Well so far we got the image above to go by on, but it seems like a good bet that Boost will be bearing this iDEN slider with hopefully a decent unlimited monthly rate plan.

Motorola Shules Gets Specific

bgr moto shules2 Motorola Shules Gets Specific

Alright so the more excited we get about the upcoming Motorola Shules, the more we get too see of it. Sometimes life is fair. The fresh live images of the Motorola Shules tell a bit about possible specifications as well, such as this will not be a spiced up version of the Flash. This is however a full touchscreen handset with a full QWERTY to boot. Of course the images you see here are early prototypes and Motorola may have modified the design so as to keep with the times. (rounded corners would feel less murderous, wouldn’t you say?)

Motorola’s Sholes Strikes A Pose

sholes011 Motorolas Sholes Strikes A Pose

And we proudly bring you the very first live shots of the handset that could save Motorola’s drowning ship, the Motorola Shules (formerly spelled with an ‘o’ as Sholes…we don’t get it either) has just been caught on blurrycam. If you can’t seem to remember, tsk tsk, the Shules will be rocking Android, a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keypad, a 5 megapixel camera and plenty more. Given that the renders were far more awesome, but the actual product isn’t half bad either. The Shules will be coming to Verizon, so how are all you Big Red fans feeling?
