Where would we be without eXxpanys UK, the online retailer that just loves to leak product information about upcoming goodies. Thanks to eXpansys we now have the product page of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2. It seems like the Windows Mobile powered handset will be out January 11, 2010, which is slightly later than the scheduled Q4 2009 release. Of course the little bit of info that will really make you choke on your coffee is the price point. A walloping £604.99 (roughly $1,010USD) for the unlocked handset from eXpansays. Ridiculous. The price will definitely drop because there’s no chance in hell Sony Ericsson has gone suicidal with its offerings. But even with a price drop, the future of the Xperia X2 seems doubtful, what with its bigger and better powered Android brother the Xperia X3 coming. Sides have been taken SE.

If you’re a Symbian faithful then there’s one handset you know you want; the Sony Ericsson Satio. Why? Merely because it boasts of an awesome 12 megapixel beast of a camera. Even if you aren’t a Symbian 60 5th Edition fan, the handset commands respect with its specs; 3.5-inch 640 x 360 pixel 16:9 touchscreen display, 12.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus, xenon flash and 12x digital zoom, 128 MB internal memory, microSDHC support, FM radio with RDS, aGPS with turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and plenty more. That’s what we mean by a fully loaded handset. And the good news is that the first iteration of the Satio has grabbed a handful of FCC approval. Enjoy the photo shoot courtesy of our pals at the FCC.

Who says the recession has weakened our financial capacity? Oh no, we are still perfectly capable of buying a 24k Gold plated cell phone. In comes the Sony Ericsson Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana, hello. The handset was introduced as a limited edition piece. It’s a designer-branded clamshell which offers a “host of features to keep you entertained and looking fabulous” such as a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording, aGPS, monoband UMTS/HSPA (2100MHz), a monochrome exterior display that doubles as a mirror to pamper your vanity and a bunch of exclusive pictures and videos from the Dolce&Gabbana women’s Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show. Of course if you’d rather go unbranded, you can pick up the Jalou Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue or Onyx Black sans Dolce branding sometime in Q4.

The next Sony Ericson handset to head for AT&T is the W518a. This slender clamshell Walkman series phone packs a good deal of music-centric functionality. The most noticeable of these features is ‘Shuffle Control’ technology that allows users to shuffle, skip and control volume by shaking the handset, and “Gesture Control”, which lets users ignore incoming calls or snooze alarms by waving a hand over the camera lens. Very Sci-Fi. There of course the usual run-of-the-mill social networking features too. Everybody’s favorite Walkman music player is on board as well. And that’s about it, you get the W518a for a very reasonable $49.99 on a two-year contract after rebates.

And sneak pictures of the Sony Ericsson C905a headed for AT&T have just surfaced courtesy of BGR, complete with packaging glamour. Enjoy the images while you wait for your C905a and imagine all the photo havoc you can wreck with this little 8.1 megapixel monster, you remember the specs;
- 8.1 megapixel camera with a xenon flash, auto-focus and video capture
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA
- On-device image editing
- Scratch-resistant mineral glass display
- GPS
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth
- Memory Stick Micro (M2) support up to 16GB
In other boring and even disappointing news, it seems that AT&T has taken some Wi-Fi and Exchange support goodness away from the handset. If you’re an old SE user, you know how to deal with this, you newbies of course will need to do a little de-branding research.

Oh the 8.1 megapixel goodness of it all, the Sony Ericsson C905a is official on AT&T. July is indeed auspicious month and you can get your fresh C905a for a cool 179.99 after rebate on a 2-year contract. Spec recap;
- 8.1 megapixel camera with a xenon flash, auto-focus and video capture
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA
- On-device image editing
- Scratch-resistant mineral glass display
- GPS
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth
- Memory Stick Micro (M2) support up to 16GB
The handset is no Rachael, but better than the W205 and W205a pair. 8.1 megapixel cameras can have our vote any day.

Sony Ericsson has just come out with a pair of handsets for its Walkman series that are aimed at being snugly affordable. Say hello to the W205 and W205a. The official specs include;
- Enjoy your music with the high quality Walkman experience
- FM radio – catch up with the latest news and views
- TrackID – name that tune at a press of a button
- 1.3 megapixel camera – take great shots and share the fun instantly
- Video recording – capture your favorite moments on film
- Bluetooth™ – share your favorite songs, pictures and video clips, or connect to a wireless headset
- Multiple phonebook – keep your contacts in order and share your mobile phone with your family
- Memory Stick Micro (M2) support up to 2GB
Yeah, not the highlight of the year. But as long as it’s affordable, it’ll find its place. And speaking of price points, the press release talks a lot about the pair being ‘affordable’ but doesn’t give a slight clue as to what that affordable price will be. The handset should come out in the next three months, but sadly the U.S. is missing from the W205a’s local availability list despite the presence of GSM 850/1900. Ah well the tweens will have to find something else to blow their allowance on.

More news about the Sony Ericsson handset that bears the codename of the legendary 90lbs supermodel ‘Twiggy’. The slenderness of the handset remains to be seen as it hasn’t been manhandled yet, but pictures of the phone have found their way to the wild. The Twiggy is a walkman phone that had been rumored to be cancelled (which may still be true). The handset has a thin flip over the keypad, Sony Ericsson has been doing that most of its handsets over the recent years. But as these screenshots will reveal, the face of the flip is home to a single touch-sensitive play/pause button. Nice, but forward and back buttons like those on the W350 would have been nice too. The music phone also bears a 3.2 megapixel camera on the backside.

Sony Ericsson was celebrating the 4th of July in a new fashion, rolling out to new Android beauties. Now while this is still a rumor, it seems that Sony Ericsson has a gorgeous new Android handset along with a pretty ugly transparent display-equipped handset, which would be the company’s first.

The Android powered handset is codenamed ‘Rachael’, bears a full touchscreen. As rumor would have it, the handset will be part of the Xperia lineup and the big touchscreen will rest on top of a Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, a 3.5mm audio jack, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and 3D graphics capabilities. Awesome! The handset should be announced later this year, and may well be one of the most drool-worthy handsets Sony Ericsson has brought out in a while.

And now for that transparent display bearing handset, ugh! Codenamed ‘Kiki’ the handset is said to feature a glass display that can be viewed from either side of the device. There isn’t anything that looks like a keypad, so we can’t be sure how anyone is supposed to interact with the handset. The best guess is that the images you see are very early mockups and SE will change the design drastically before (and if) the handset ever reaches the market.
