best buy telus htc touch pro2 TELUS HTC Touch Pro2 Goes Up On Best Buy

Best Buy has just put up TELUS’s HTC Touch Pro2 on its website. This Best Buy being Best Buy, since ELUS hasn’t given a hint as to how much the Touch Pro2 will cost, but Best Buy will give it to us for $249.99 CAD. Smooth move. Now if that weird looking image of the Touch Pro2 could be replaced by an honorable depiction of the world’s most gorgeous looking WinMo smartphone, we’d call it a day.

telus pro2 35mm Promotional Video Reveals TELUS HTC Touch Pro2 Will Have 3.5mm Headset Jack

While it takes some us more time than others to finally get with the times, it’s always pleasant when it finally happens. And that’s where HTC comes in, the maker of all those gorgeous handsets has finally decided to step into the 21st century by adding a 3.5mm headphone jack to the Touch Pro2, at least for TELUS users. Yay! The revelation was made in a video of the Touch Pro2 featured on YouTube (where else?) Goodbye USB headphone jack, and good riddance. And all our hopes are glued to this being a permanent change for all future HTC handsets. The TouchPro2 has the killer touchscreen/QWERTY combination as well as Windows Mobile 6.1 with HTC’s famous TouchFlo 3D UI, a 3.2 megapixel shooter, Wi-Fi and a pivoting screen. A pretty good grab TELUS subscribers.

telus tour best buy Best Buy Offers The TELUS BlackBerry Tour For $229

Lately it’s all been about the BlackBerry Tour, and while some of you may be wincing at the very title of this post, there are plenty others who want a modern CDMA BlackBerry with a full QWERTY keypad. N Canada, TELUS will be offering the Tour along with Bell, but TELUS’ price point for the coveted handset as of July 15th is $249.99 on a three year contract. And this really is a tad too high, considering you just signed away three years of your life. Before heading on to TELUS, how about checking in with Best Buy, since they’re offering the Tour $20 cheaper. Not enough to pay for your next vacation, but a penny saved is still a penny earned.

Canadians have more to celebrate about, the TELUS BlackBerry Tour, HTC Snap and Touch Pro2 have all shown up on a Best Buy Mobile flyer. TELUS hasn’t announced the two HTC phones yet, but their coming up on Best Buy’s flyer means the official announcement shouldn’t be far, since the flyer is valid from July 3rd to July 30th. The flyer doesn’t contain any interesting details like pricing or release dates. But it’s leaked information in the right direction.

Rumors Abound; TELUS May Get The iPhone In October

iphone 3gs2 Rumors Abound; TELUS May Get The iPhone In October

Reader be warned. This is a rumor of little authenticity reported by a person of high integrity. Meaning, the news bit might be fake but the guy quoting just wouldn’t lie to us so we’re letting you in on the deal. But remember don’t go packing or anything just yet and hold on to your boot straps. Word on the wide WWW is that Rogers and Fido weren’t all in and exclusive with the iPhone deal as we were led to believe. Turns out that another Canadian carrier by the name of Telus will offer the iPhone3G S in October once it has its HSPA network up and running.  And of course, yet another dire warning of caution. The news that Telus will have the HSPA network up by October is good and the bit about the iPhone is even better but be warned, in the phone industry, the times they are a changin’. And while we aren’t totally dissing the rumor, it is still advised that  you believe with caution.

TELUS Also Planning To Launch BlackBerry Tour On July 15

telus tour launch rumor TELUS Also Planning To Launch BlackBerry Tour On July 15

No doubt news has been all about either Sprint or Verizon launching/announcing or bathing the new BlackBerry Tour 9630, but that doesn’t mean that the locals of the Smartphone are going to be left out.  The TELUS Tour is rumored to be out on July 15th, which a lot ways away from the old rumored date of June 22nd. Delays are no one’s idea of the perfect summer but this delay is subject to the old date which itself was a rumor. However other rumors are that there might be a 1GB microSD included as compensation for delay. This is probably the too-far-fetched-to-believe rumor and with the pricing rumor of $249.99 3-year promotional price, it’s not about to happen in this life time.

TELUS HSPA Soft-Launch Slated For September 2nd, Full Rollout In October

telus logo1 TELUS HSPA Soft Launch Slated For September 2nd, Full Rollout In October

For all you Canadians who are patiently waiting for the HSPA rollout from TELUS, here’s some more info; seems like the carrier will most definitely start the soft-launch on parts of the HSPA network as early as September 2nd. That date being given, we unfortunately don’t have any idea as to which markets will get first serving. Vancouver for sure is one of the lucky markets, and a good part of the country will probably be able to live it up in HSPA-style by the end of October. Also, it seems that all you users who have been putting up with the increased network interruptions can look to the rollout as well. The engineers at TELUS have had to reposition a lot of CDMA antennas to make room for the new HSPA equipment. Price of progress right?

Proof Of TELUS’ HSDPA Network Coming Soon

telus lg bl40 Proof Of TELUS HSDPA Network Coming Soon

It seems that TELUS Mobile is well on its way to roll out its HSDPA network. While TELUS CEO had given a roadmap that the roll out would be complete in 2010, findings are pointing towards a working HSDPA network as early as fall 2009. The latest and strongest of these is what the guys over at MobileSyrup have discovered; an .xml file at the LG website entitled “LG-BL40-TELUS”, which contains references to UMTS and HSDPA connectivity which in turn leads to speculation that the BL40 (which is also headed to Vodafone) could very well be among the first HSDPA devices to be offered by TELUS. Add to this the fact that TELUS is positively in love with all things LG, and it makes a very convincing argument. So HSDPA coming to TELUS soon, very good, very good indeed.
