In another global effort to bring some sanity to our world, France has just announced that it will be passing a law prohibiting the sale of cell phones to children 6 years of age or younger. Also, they’re going to ban advertising for cell phones that targets audiences 12 years and younger.

The only disturbing thing about this is that such legislation is needed when really it’s a matter of rationality. We already have medical reports citing excessive computer use as leading to falling health among children and now cell phones. While they have their uses, a child under 6 seriously does not need a cell phone, he or she needs a parent.
