iPhone OS 3.1 Unofficial Change Log

iphone 3gs4 iPhone OS 3.1 Unofficial Change Log

Ok so the iPhone OS 3.1 has been dished out to developers to get cracking over. And now that they’ve had a day or two to play around with it, we can unofficially share the change log with all you enthusiasts.

  1. Options for MMS are back on AT&T, but not sending or receiving.
  2. Non-destructive video editing means trimming a clip no longer saves over the original video but gives you the option to “Save as copy…”
  3. Voice Control now works over Bluetooth
  4. iPhone vibrates when moving icons
  5. Updated AT&T profile to 4.2
  6. Updated modem firmware to 5.08.01
  7. Improvements to OpenGL and Quartz
  8. APIs to allow third party apps to access videos and edit them
  9. You can now paste phone numbers into the phone app’s dialer. This wasn’t possible under 3.0

10.  While pasting phone numbers, a neat feature is that it will convert alphanumeric phone numbers into a real phone number (e.g. 1-800-FLOWERS becomes 1-800-356-9377)

11.  Calendar appointment popup notifications now display the “Location” field from the calendar entry

12.  Ability to save video attachments in emails to your camera roll

Of course this list still doesn’t include any cures to that annoying sound the iPhone 3GS has been producing, so maybe Apple thinks everyone will go deaf or something, not the best of hopes when you’re planning on selling a mobile phone. Get with the program Apple.
