More Omnia Action From Samsung; Omnia Lite And Omnia II

It’s not just us hopelessly gaga over the Omnia. Turns out, so is Samsung it just keeps on making more and more. And we are eternally grateful it too. It announced more phones in one day than most companies manage in a year. And now it gives us the two new Omnia handsets, the Omnia II (I8000) and Omnia LITE (B7300). The Omnia II is next in line to Samsung’s Omnia with the following specs to report:
- Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (upgradable to 6.5)
- Massive 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display
- TouchWiz 2.0 UI
- Advanced R Touch (Resistive Touch) that “enables faster, more accurate touch response”
- 480p video recording and playback
- HSUPA 5.76Mbps, HSDPA 7.2Mbps
- Wi-Fi
- Up to 48GB of storage
The Omnia LITE has following specs to report:
- Full touchscreen form factor
- TouchWiz 2.0
- 3 megapixel camera
- Push email support
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Full HTML Opera Web browser
- HSDPA
- Wi-Fi
- A-GPS
So this is what it means by “mobile convergence plan” to “reinforce its status as a leader” in the mobile phone industry. Definitely the Omnia II is a favorite with us and with Samsung as all eyes are on it and there is a solid collection of offerings. No price or release dates are as yet available but it is out that the Omnia II will be offered through Verizon Wireless later this year.
