vodafone htc magic 148x300 HTC Magic Is Official On Vodafone

A day or so ago we told you that Europe was getting dibbs on the G2 known to them as the HTC Magic. Well now the news all official; Vodafone is going to be the exclusive carrier for UK, Spain, France and Germany. As for Italy, enthusiasts there will be able to purchase the world’s first touchscreen-only Android phone as no-exclusive buyers. Though a definite release date isn’t out yet, Vodafone’s website says the Magic will be “Arriving in April.” As for the United States, let’s just hope we get some Magic sooner than later.

Now the HTC Magic is a definite improvement on the tub of plastic that was the G1, especially on the appearance side. Here are the specs;

8.      WiFi 802.11 b/g

Yes, you noticed right, no 3.5mm audio jack or LED flash. Major bummer.  And here’s the full press release if you want to gobble up more details.

leica 1 300x238 T MobileTo Bring Samsung T929 Leica, Prepare To Meet The 8MP Camera

T-Mobile users of the United States have something to be happy, in fact very happy about. Rumor had been abuzz for a while that the Samsung M8800 Pixxon may be coming to T-Mobile, and the latest tidings are the phone is here and it’s been renamed the T929 Leica.

T-Mobile just recently launched the Samsung T919 Behold and just when it seemed as if the holiday treats were about to end, another awesome touch screen cell phone is on the way. The T929 Leica is one of those breathtaking devices you can’t wait to get your hands on. Samsung has basically taken an 8 megapixel camera and put a cell phone on it. The secret was uncovered on Best Buy’s website, where they have included the T929 on the list of devices compatible with the replaceable lithium ion battery the site is offering for sale.

The T929 Leica is fully dedicated to imaging and the 8 megapixel camera is equipped with autofocus, anti-shake technology, face and smile detection, a dual LED flash and nifty collection of image enhancing devices. Also the Leica has high standard video recording capability; it records 30 frames per second at a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels. There’s also the option of recording at 120 frames per second at 320 x 240 pixels. You also get the ever desirable geo-tagging facilty to make your photos more memorable.

Pretty much goes without saying, but the Leica is a 3G phone. It features Samsung’s mega hit TouchWiz interface. If you don’t remember, this is the user interface that gives the ultimate personalization experience with the help of widgets placed in a tray on the phone’s screen . on a sadder note, the Leica has no Wi-Fi, no smart dialing and there’s no stylus compartment.

Snapshot of Specs:

1.      3.2″ 256K-color TFT LCD touch screen display of WQVGA resolution

2.      8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and lens protection

3.      Camera geo-tagging, auto-panorama shot, face, smile and blink detection, advanced shake reduction

4.      WVGA video recording at 30fps

5.      Slimmest 8MP phone

6.      3G with HSDPA support

7.      Quad-band GSM support

8.      GPS receiver

9.      microSD card slot

10.  DivX, XviD and MP4 video player

11.  SRS (Surround Sound System) Virtual 5.1CH

12.  TV out functionality

13.  FM radio with RDS

14.  Bluetooth and USB v2.0

15.  200 MB internal memory

16.  Landscape on-screen virtual QWERTY keyboard

17.  Accelerometer sensor

18.  Multitasking

19.  Office document viewer

20.  ShoZu integration (direct image and video uploads)

Samsung Brings Mid Range Phones to AT&T

sgh a7771 Samsung Brings Mid Range Phones to AT&T

Samsung

has certainly been bust as of lately. Maybe the fact that they are now the number one cell phone seller in the United States is making the US market all the more attractive than before. The Korean company has come out with some nice mid-range cell phone, the SGH A777 and SGH A867. The phones were announced recently by AT&T right after the FCC approved of it. Engadget brought us the news.

The SGH A777 is a slider, mid range, 3G cell phone that supports GPRS/EDGE networks as well as dual-band UMTS (850/1900MHz). Those of you who wanted a light yet effective cell phone for AT&T’s high speed networks finally have what they asked for. The phone also has Bluetooth. There’s also a nice 1.3 megapixel camera that takes pictures as well as captures videos, the camera also has autofocus. Built-in memory is a decent 50MB with additional storage support through a microSD slot.

In size, you get a petite 4.0 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches and 96 grams of Samsung to carry around. The display isn’t huge either and the resolution seems ok with 176 x 220 pixels and support for 262K colors. The li-ion battery could do with an improvement, only 3 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby life. The exact release date and pricing information is as of yet unavailable, but the cell phone probably won’t be over $100.

Now for the SGH A867, this is also a nice looking but again mid-range cell phone. Running on EDGE networks well as dual-band UMTS (850/1900MHz) and having Bluetooth is about all that has been unveiled on the cell phone so far. Probably the phone will be similar to the SGH A777 especially in the price range. It will be running on AT&T’s high speed network.

All in all, the two phones aren’t hard on the eyes, quite nice and fit the budget too. They are quite a practical choice since they support 3G and giving you email functionality as well. Let’s see when AT&T finally brings them to the fore front.
