ipod touch 3g spy covino1 3rd Generation iPod Touch, Legit Images

Just when you’d almost forgotten (or given up hope on) the 3rd generation iPod Touch, in comes a rumor to remind you of your former dreams. According to the blog of a popular radio show, the Covino & Rich Show blog, the images you see here are totally legit shots of the 3rd generation iPod. The show hosts claim they were sent in by a loyal listener and this is not a publicity stunt. The images are not the final production unit, but early prototypes the tipster got their hands on since they deal with used electronics. Right. The disassembled iPod Touch you see here does have the red circuit board that is a generally used for prototyoes. So as usual we are slightly skeptical since there no real way to confirm this and radio show hosts have been prone in the past to do a fair share of marketing for their shows…you get the idea. Enjoy the prototypes though.

Curious about iTunes 9? You and everybody else. A little tip that comes from a reliable source has us believe that iTunes 9 will be a sure delight. Among the newly added features is Blu-ray support. This rumor is strengthened by an Apple Insider report earlier that stated that Apple would be integrating Blu-ray into the iMac line-up. There’s also the much longed for ability of visual app organization; iTunes 9 will finally include the ability to visually organize and arrange your iPhone and iPod touch applications. There’s also something like Twitter/Facebook/Last.fm integration, but that’s a fuzzy area…maybe you will be able to broadcast what song you’re listening to your friends. There isn’t a definite release date for iTunes 9, but the Apple iPod event scheduled for September seems like a good candidate.

ipod touch 3 silicon1 Cameras, The Next Frontier For The iPhone and iPod

Initially we though that of the iPod touch and the iPod nano, one would be the favorite child of one Steve, but parenting stories aside the question is no longer of which of the two will be endowed, but of When will this actually freaking happen. A Camera for the iPod Touch and Nano is now certain and the Chinese have made more cases for the iPod than the Japanese have made outfits for Hello Kitty and Mettal has for Barbie put together and may I add that they are just as pretty. Now it’s not for nothing that they are making THAT many different cases if there wasn’t solid camera behind it and this mass production is just in time with Apple’s massive order for cameras.

apple campus Apple Earnings Report Q3: Scores 5.2million iPhone & 10.3 million iPod Sales

While we are no fans of number crunching, the hottest handset manufacturers performances always cause a bit of a stir; we do want to know how the brand we hate or love has done in the last year or so. Apple has just released its earnings’ report for its 3rd quarter, which ended June 27th, and…well…Apple is just rolling in the good stuff. Cupertino has actually reported the best earnings for a non-holiday quarter in its entire history. The figures speak for themselves;

  • 5.2 million iPhones sold (626 percent growth Year-on-Year)
  • 10.2 million iPods sold
  • 2.6 million Macs sold
  • $1.23 billion in profits, up from $1.19 in Q3-08
  • $8.34 billion in sales, up from $7.46 in Q3-08
  • $1.34 EPS, up from $1.19 in Q3-08

And what does the proud CEO Steve Jobs have to say? Simply, “We’re making our most innovative products ever and our customers are responding. We’re thrilled to have sold over 5.2 million iPhones during the quarter and users have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications from our App Store in its first year.” And must be comforting to know that Apple didn’t get fall off track while Jobs was on leave, they certainly earned an applause.

Apple Ordering Cameras By The Ton; Rumored To Head For The iPod

picture 23 Apple Ordering Cameras By The Ton; Rumored To Head For The iPod

According to Tech Church’s sources in Asia, Apple has ordered a ton of cameras, the kind that it puts into its iPhones. Now Apple is unabashedly proud of the iPhone 3GS’s video capabilities so this rumor becomes believable; the new breed of cameras are reportedly going to the iPod s and iPod Touch. If this pans out, low-end digital camera manufacturers and specialty companies like Flip will have their work cut out for them maintaining their customer base. Sure video recording or photo quality  won’t really beat a dedicated device, but it certainly gives folks who don’t want to carry multiple devices a pretty nice option. Let’s see how soon we’ll see the ‘iPod TouchS’.

iPhone/iPod Activation Servers Crumble Under The Pressure

activation death iPhone/iPod Activation Servers Crumble Under The Pressure

Hear that sound? It’s the sound of Apple and AT&T dying a slow and well plotted death at the hands of its many users. In a huge surprise, Apple and AT&T servers bombed completely when it came to activating the iPhone/iPod on the new 3G. Too many users trying to get in through one tiny little hole, which is going to get big as fast as Kirsty Alley got small. If you are trying to reactivate after your 3.0 update, hang in there, say a few prayers and sprinkle some salt. Things should get better soon.

iPhone And iPod Earbuds Are Shocking Users….Literally

shocking wiggles iPhone And iPod Earbuds Are Shocking Users....Literally

No kidding, Apple just put up a new support page in response to complaints from numerous users about the iPhone and iPod earbuds; the electrocute you. Ok, maybe not a thunderbolt passing through your veins, but it was still severe enough to warrant a good number of complaints and get Apple to cough up an acknowledgement. Specifically, here’s what Cupertino had to say;

“When using headphones in areas where the air is very dry, it is easy to build up static electricity and possible for your ear to receive a small electrostatic discharge from the headphones. Receiving a static shock from a pair of earbuds does not necessarily indicate an issue with the iPod, iPhone, or earbuds.

This condition is very similar to dragging your feet across a carpet and receiving a static shock by touching a door knob. However, instead of the static charge building up on your body, the charge builds up on the device that the earbuds are connected to. Likewise, instead of the static buildup discharging through your finger when you touch a door knob, it discharges through the earbuds.”

Apple says that situation affects other manufacturers’ equipment so users should take a few precautions such as using anti-static hand lotion or wearing “clothes with natural fibers since synthetic fibers are more likely to hold a static charge” ….because this is so much easier than buying a third party handset? As if!
