webos 121 rebel WebOS 1.2.1Get Back Together WIth iTunes Sync

Considering that Palm has recently been in hot water with the USB Implementers Forum for its vendor ID antics, no one was surprised when WebOS 1.2 came out a few days ago sans the ability to sync with iTunes. So now, in an update, Palm has launched WebOS 1.2.1, with the iTunes sync ability re-enabled.

iTunes 9, News Update

More on iTunes 9; an anonymous tipster just dropped word and screenshots of what is claimed to be iTunes 9 and features Facebook social playlist integration and support for third-party devices. According to the screen shots, iTunes 9 will let you create a new playlist and share it with your friends on Facebook. The Facebook entry that subsequently appears on the user’s FB wall will include an iTunes link, presumably pointing to the shared playlist found on an iTunes page. Nice. As for the third-party device support…err…a very long shot there, Cupertino does not do third-party anything. Ah well, time will reveal all. Enjoy the screenshots and pray they are legit.

facebook 3 Facebook Files Version 3.0 Of Social Networking App To Apple

All right Facebook junkies, it is now time to stack up on your good deeds and pray with all your might because the Facebook team has submitted version 3.0 of their legendary social networking app to the Apple App Store. The next few months will be filled with excruciating pain none have seen the likes of, at least not the Facebook crowd. The new Facebook 3.0 app brings 15 new mouth watering features including;

  • The “new” News Feed
  • Like
  • Events (including the ability to RSVP)
  • Notes
  • Pages
  • Create new photo albums
  • Upload photos to any album
  • Zoom into photos
  • Easier photo tagging
  • Profile Pictures albums
  • A new home screen for easy access to all your stuff, search, and notifications
  • Add your favorite profiles and pages to the home screen
  • Better Notifications (they link to the comments so you can reply)
  • Quickly call or text people right from the Friends page
  • Messages you are typing will be restored if you quit or are interrupted by a phone call

Pretty cool right? So let’s not grumble about the absence of Push Notifications (Facebook 3.1 has got to have something right?) And of course the usual waiting for Apple to prove that it doesn’t hate everybody and will approve a Facebook app…

Social Networking Apps On iTunes, Apple Is Developing

itunes 9 social Social Networking Apps On iTunes, Apple Is Developing

More news on iTunes 9 people. Further reliable insider reporting goes to state that social networking will be the major highlight of iTunes 9. Specifically, changes and improvements will include;

  • The social networking integration that we talked about earlier seems to be part of a bigger social networking push by Apple. Looks like Apple has plans to tie iTunes 9 into a “Social” application that they plan to release in the future. It was said that the application (separate from iTunes) will be similar to Yahoo’s OneConnect offering and consolidate all your social networking services. (iPhone application? Desktop app? That’s still a shady area).
  • The application will allow you to broadcast what music you’re currently listening to, allow you to share your music with people on your network, connect with your friend’s friends, and update all of your statuses at the same time. iTunes 9 will let you broadcast your music status as well.
  • As far as the iTunes application organization feature, so far what we know is that it allow you to sort your applications alphabetically, by genre, date added, and of course, custom arrangement.

There you go, more juicy stuff on iTunes 9, so who’s excited?

Apple iTune 9, Blu Ray And App Organizer

itunes icon1 Apple iTune 9, Blu Ray And App Organizer

Curious about iTunes 9? You and everybody else. A little tip that comes from a reliable source has us believe that iTunes 9 will be a sure delight. Among the newly added features is Blu-ray support. This rumor is strengthened by an Apple Insider report earlier that stated that Apple would be integrating Blu-ray into the iMac line-up. There’s also the much longed for ability of visual app organization; iTunes 9 will finally include the ability to visually organize and arrange your iPhone and iPod touch applications. There’s also something like Twitter/Facebook/Last.fm integration, but that’s a fuzzy area…maybe you will be able to broadcast what song you’re listening to your friends. There isn’t a definite release date for iTunes 9, but the Apple iPod event scheduled for September seems like a good candidate.

Pre Owners Say Bye Bye To iTunes Sync, Say Hello To iTunes 8.2.1

August 5th, 2009 momina No comments

palm pre itunes Pre Owners Say Bye Bye To iTunes Sync, Say Hello To iTunes 8.2.1

Don’t act surprised, we all knew this was coming since day one. Rumor has it that Apple is going to make good on its ‘threat’ about non-Apple devices not being compatible with iTunes as gradual updates keep a coming. And those ‘gradual’ software updates are here in the form of iTunes 8.2.1, which will effectively kill all Palm Pre Syncing. Palm said in its statement that users should consider holding off on upgrading and if out-of-the-box iTunes syncing is what you want, that’s probably a good idea. Now let’s just see how long this cat and mouse game is going to play out, and how long Palm is going to find ways around Apple’s every subsequent fix. Of course Pre users need not despair, there are other options.

Palm Responds To Apple’s Threats About Killing All Unsupported iTunes Sync

palm pre itunes Palm Responds To Apples Threats About Killing All Unsupported iTunes Sync

Palm and Apple are definitely having a go at each other again and this time it’s over the Palm syncing with iTunes issue. Apple recently lashed out about being “aware” that “third parties” (Palm) are claiming to support/sync with iTunes. Apple knew what they were saying and who was listening.

Apple is aware that some third-parties claim that their digital media players are able to sync with Apple software. However, Apple does not provide support for, or test for compatibility with, non-Apple digital media players and, because software changes over time, newer versions of Apple’s iTunes software may no longer provide syncing functionality with non-Apple digital media players.”

Basically what they mean is “You, All of you are now our prisoners. We are taking you to Monster Mountain where you will have to repeatedly stick to using our stuff and only our stuff. If anyone tries to get around using our stuff, we will kill!”

Palm spokesperson Lynn Fox’s responded as only Palm responds:

Palm’s media sync works with the current version of iTunes. If Apple chooses to disable media sync in a future version of iTunes, it will be a direct blow to their users who will be deprived of a seamless synchronization experience. However, people will have options. They can stay with the iTunes version that works to sync their music on their Pre, they can transfer the music via USB, and there are other third-party applications we could consider.

So what Palm is trying to say is, “it’s on now”. They are playing the Apple doesn’t give jack about its customers. And if Apple really does care, it won’t stop people from getting iTune sync in any way possible.

So it’s like this, Apple is all it’s our way or the high way, and Palm is playing a typical politician about to run for office. But of course while Apple and Palm battle it out, there are still plenty of people out there with plenty of solutions to iTune sync that Apple does not care to address so enjoy those.

You Can Sync Any Phone With iTunes

web itunes You Can Sync Any Phone With iTunes

Among the latest buzz to hit the web is the claim that the Palm Pre can sync with iTunes. The amount of attention this received was, well, astonishing. In any case, we agree, the idea that the Pre will be able to sync with iTunes right out of the box is pretty exciting, but well…it’s not the only handset that can do that. While sure, the Pre gets the edge in that Syncing is possible right out of the box, there is plenty of free third party software out there that will sync just as nicely. Here are two free applications that you might want to try; iTunes Agent for Windows PCs and iTuneMyWalkman for Mac. Both applications will sync your phone, smart or dumb, with your computer if it has a mass storage mode and can connect as a drive. The best thing about these apps is that they are universal (nearly) in their compatibility; there’ll hardly be a phone out there that won’t sync with them. So there you have it, no need to envy yourself to the psyche ward over the Pre synching with iTunes.

Thirteen Year Old Wins iTunes Contest

apple logo1 Thirteen Year Old Wins iTunes Contest

Well the iTunes one billionth app contest is now over and the winner is a thirteen year old by the name of Conner Mulcahey of Weston, CT. the thirteen year was downloading, Bump (not iFart as many would have guessed) which is a contact swapping application from Bump Technologies. So what are the spoils? Well he gets, a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod Touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro. That’s enough to make most adults green with envy. Well congrats to the lad, but I’d sure as hell like to know what a thirteen year was doing with an iPhone to begin with…talk about being too young. Ah well, let capitalism prevail, if he (or more to the point his parents) can afford it, I guess stupid but still ok for him to have it.
