BlackBerry fans have reason to celebrate, you can now get your App World groove on, sitting comfortably at your computer. The first thing you’ll note when you get there is how awesome the App world is on your computer and how lame the on-device experience feels in comparison. RIM’s newly launched Web-based version of its App World offering allows users to browse the catalog in its entirety from any desktop browser (or even a decent mobile browser). That’s all very nice and all, but really to think that RIM’s been holding back on us with the on-device portal is heartbreaking. At present if your browsing from your computer and you find an app you like, you email the link to your ‘Berry, thereby giving new meaning to the word ‘corny’. How about coming to the present times and letting us mark an app on the website and have it saved so as to appear on our page when we open the store on our ‘Berry huh? That would be modern. So who else has check the new App World out? What do you think?

The unthinkable has happened! RIM has just announced by way of its Inside BlackBerry Blog that BlackBerry Desktop Manager is coming to OS X in September. Everybody breathe. Major features will include;

  1. Sync your iTunes playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks [if Apple doesn't find a way to kill it, of course]
  2. Add/Remove applications
  3. Update your device when new software becomes available
  4. Backup and restore your device data with such features like automatically scheduled backups and optional encryption (security is #1 as always…)
  5. Manage multiple devices

RIM may hold back a bit of functionality from the initial Mac builds, but at least it will Mac users’ life easier when they new BlackBerry OS builds hit town. Here’s http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/mac.jspwhere you register for updates on DM for Mac.

sync palm pre mac Mark Space Comes Out With Missing Sync Beta For Palm Pre

Palm Pre, great phone syncs really nice with iTunes, not o much with Macs. But for all such issues, we have Mark/Space, the company has delivered on its promise of issuing a public beta version of Missing Sync for the Palm Pre. The utility is currently at version 1.0 beta, but according to all reports, it’s fully functional and free for you to take for a spin. You get to sync Contacts, Music, photos, ringtones, files, calendar items, videos and podcasts. Soon to be included are Safari bookmarks, though the forthcoming MyBookmarks app is a prerequisite so not quite there yet. Also, Missing Sync for the Pre does include proximity sync, which will sync up your Pre when it is detected on the same network as your Mac. Cool. Requirements include Pre OS 1.0.2+, OS X 10.5.6+, iTunes 7.4+ and a few other notes depending on what you want to sync. How much will it cost you if you’re planning on a buy? $40, you get the full version the minute it comes out.
