Right, so another promotional has come around to remind all kids that their summer break is almost over and another school year/semester is edging ever closer. Don’t get us wrong, we like promotions as much as the next person, but being reminded that school is nearing is not fun. Anyway, onwards, Alltel is offering the 91 divested markets not controlled by Verizon Wireless “New and existing Alltel Wireless customers with “My Circle” plans, Smart Choice Packs, and Bundled Wireless Internet plans can add up to four lines to their primary account, with a $25 activation fee per line, and receive three months of free service on those new lines.” There you have it straight from the horse’s mouth. So parents who are thinking of adding an extra line for their offspring, now’s the time to do it. The Alltel Back-to-School promotion runs till September 10th, plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons.

Verizon Introduces Friends And Family Feature

vzwff Verizon Introduces Friends And Family Feature

Probably one of the biggest things Alltel customers have been dreading coming to Verizon is the end of the My Circle feature in calling plans. So good news for them in particular and to other Verizon users in general; Verizon will be coming out with a new Friends and Family feature on February 15th, 2009. The Friends and family feature will allow you to add 5 or 10 numbers to a Friends & Family calling group. Calls to and from this Friends & Family calling group will not count against your plan minutes.

To be eligible for this feature, you must have either a Nationwide Single Line plan with 900 or more Anytime Minutes (minimum $59.99/month) or a Nationwide Family Share Plan with 1,400 or more Anytime Minutes (minimum $89.99 for 2 lines/month). An individual line is able to add five contacts to its Friends & Family calling group while a Family Share line is able to add 10 contacts that are shared among plan members.

The down side to the new feature is that only those on the higher minutes and higher priced calling plans qualify for it, the basement 450 minutes Nationwide Single plan or the 700 minutes Family Share plan are left square out in the cold. Not to mention that the 10 numbers in the Friends & Family calling group are shared among plan members and not allocated as 5 to 10 numbers per line. Grumble.

In any case, adding the feature to your higher-end plan if free. So rejoice those of you who thought they would never see the likes of My Circle again.
