Where would we be without eXxpanys UK, the online retailer that just loves to leak product information about upcoming goodies. Thanks to eXpansys we now have the product page of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2. It seems like the Windows Mobile powered handset will be out January 11, 2010, which is slightly later than the scheduled Q4 2009 release. Of course the little bit of info that will really make you choke on your coffee is the price point. A walloping £604.99 (roughly $1,010USD) for the unlocked handset from eXpansays. Ridiculous. The price will definitely drop because there’s no chance in hell Sony Ericsson has gone suicidal with its offerings. But even with a price drop, the future of the Xperia X2 seems doubtful, what with its bigger and better powered Android brother the Xperia X3 coming. Sides have been taken SE.

If you’re a Symbian faithful then there’s one handset you know you want; the Sony Ericsson Satio. Why? Merely because it boasts of an awesome 12 megapixel beast of a camera. Even if you aren’t a Symbian 60 5th Edition fan, the handset commands respect with its specs; 3.5-inch 640 x 360 pixel 16:9 touchscreen display, 12.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus, xenon flash and 12x digital zoom, 128 MB internal memory, microSDHC support, FM radio with RDS, aGPS with turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and plenty more. That’s what we mean by a fully loaded handset. And the good news is that the first iteration of the Satio has grabbed a handful of FCC approval. Enjoy the photo shoot courtesy of our pals at the FCC.

So who else wants to cash in Facebook’s ability to completely take over your life? AT&T of course. The carrier has just launched an app that will let you enter a contest to win free stuff. The app, known as AT&T Share, is your regular Facebook app; you simply install it and you’ve entered the free giveaway campaign. The app will then set you about completing a series of ‘missions’. Successful completion of a mission gives you the obvious; reward points. The reward points take you closer to winning free gift items which includes phones, gadgets, VIP tickets to this year’s Warped Tour, tickets to sporting events, service credits and more. What kind of missions are you likely to be set forth on? Well the first one that ran for a week or so simply required participants to film a video of themselves explaining what they like most about AT&T apps, games and music. They had to upload the video, link it in the AT&T Share Facebook app and that was it, they earned a chance to have their video featured on AT&T’s new App Center website as a well as a chance to win an AT&T gift card or a Sony Ericsson phone. Simple. And a better use of Facebook then just reading fortune cookies all day. Get your Facebook AT&T Share app here.

Who says the recession has weakened our financial capacity? Oh no, we are still perfectly capable of buying a 24k Gold plated cell phone. In comes the Sony Ericsson Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana, hello. The handset was introduced as a limited edition piece. It’s a designer-branded clamshell which offers a “host of features to keep you entertained and looking fabulous” such as a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording, aGPS, monoband UMTS/HSPA (2100MHz), a monochrome exterior display that doubles as a mirror to pamper your vanity and a bunch of exclusive pictures and videos from the Dolce&Gabbana women’s Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show. Of course if you’d rather go unbranded, you can pick up the Jalou Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue or Onyx Black sans Dolce branding sometime in Q4.

As we’ve always found to be the case, the more leaked live shots of a handset finds their way to the web, the closer we are to seeing an official release. And probably that what every Sony Ericsson fan is hoping to be the case as fresh images of the Xperia 2 have been found on the xda-developers blog. The Xperia 2, which also answers to Vulcan features;
- 8.1 megapixel auto-focus, VGA video capture @ 30fps (MP4 HQ)
- 3.5-inch WVGA OLED
- GPS
- 3.5mm audio jack
- Accelerometer
- Faster processor
- 512 RAM
- Custom Windows Mobile 6.5
- XPERIA Panels are modified with plenty of innovative features (PS3 remote play being one of them)
- Upgradable to Windows Mobile 7
No word as to pricing, but if SE has learned its lesson right from the Xperia 1 launch, this little baby will be priced sanely from day-one.

The next Sony Ericson handset to head for AT&T is the W518a. This slender clamshell Walkman series phone packs a good deal of music-centric functionality. The most noticeable of these features is ‘Shuffle Control’ technology that allows users to shuffle, skip and control volume by shaking the handset, and “Gesture Control”, which lets users ignore incoming calls or snooze alarms by waving a hand over the camera lens. Very Sci-Fi. There of course the usual run-of-the-mill social networking features too. Everybody’s favorite Walkman music player is on board as well. And that’s about it, you get the W518a for a very reasonable $49.99 on a two-year contract after rebates.

And sneak pictures of the Sony Ericsson C905a headed for AT&T have just surfaced courtesy of BGR, complete with packaging glamour. Enjoy the images while you wait for your C905a and imagine all the photo havoc you can wreck with this little 8.1 megapixel monster, you remember the specs;
- 8.1 megapixel camera with a xenon flash, auto-focus and video capture
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA
- On-device image editing
- Scratch-resistant mineral glass display
- GPS
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth
- Memory Stick Micro (M2) support up to 16GB
In other boring and even disappointing news, it seems that AT&T has taken some Wi-Fi and Exchange support goodness away from the handset. If you’re an old SE user, you know how to deal with this, you newbies of course will need to do a little de-branding research.

Oh the 8.1 megapixel goodness of it all, the Sony Ericsson C905a is official on AT&T. July is indeed auspicious month and you can get your fresh C905a for a cool 179.99 after rebate on a 2-year contract. Spec recap;
- 8.1 megapixel camera with a xenon flash, auto-focus and video capture
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band HSDPA
- On-device image editing
- Scratch-resistant mineral glass display
- GPS
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth
- Memory Stick Micro (M2) support up to 16GB
The handset is no Rachael, but better than the W205 and W205a pair. 8.1 megapixel cameras can have our vote any day.
