The HTC Leo has been out of sight for a while now, but recent leaks into the world of bloggers have it that the HTC Leo will now officially be the HTC Touch HD2. A leaked document has shown that the HTC Touch HD2 will be heading for T-Mobile soon. Of course there’s no release date, but with Windows Mobile 6.5 out and about, how long could it really be? So who’s holding out for the 1GHz pumping, 5 megapixel beast?

Sprint Wisens Up, Cuts Touch Pro2 Price To $199 With MIR

sprint touch pro2 Sprint Wisens Up, Cuts Touch Pro2 Price To $199 With MIR

Another carrier that’s listening to that little voice inside its corporate head, the one called common sense is Sprint. The ridiculously high price of the Touch Pro2, a laughable $349, has now been cut down to a standard smartphone price tag size, which is $199 (post mail-in rebate). Yes the Touch Pro2 is an awesome device, but that doesn’t mean it has no competition, there is still the iPhone 3GS to talk people out of buying, and then the many yummy treats that RIM makes for us. Also, Sprint users won’t be the only ones enjoying the benefits of this price cut, let’s see how long T-Mobile is going to hold on to that $350 price tag on its Touch Pro2. With both Sprint and Verizon on the $200 price point, TMo is the odd man out. And for those of you early adopters who paid the outrageously high price, reports are circulating the interweb that if you call up telemarketing and chat real nice with eCare online, there’s a good chance you’ll get a $100 credit. You have our good wishes.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 Will Land January 11, 2010

expansys xperia x2 Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 Will Land January 11, 2010

Where would we be without eXxpanys UK, the online retailer that just loves to leak product information about upcoming goodies. Thanks to eXpansys we now have the product page of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2. It seems like the Windows Mobile powered handset will be out January 11, 2010, which is slightly later than the scheduled Q4 2009 release. Of course the little bit of info that will really make you choke on your coffee is the price point. A walloping £604.99 (roughly $1,010USD) for the unlocked handset from eXpansays. Ridiculous. The price will definitely drop because there’s no chance in hell Sony Ericsson has gone suicidal with its offerings. But even with a price drop, the future of the Xperia X2 seems doubtful, what with its bigger and better powered Android brother the Xperia X3 coming. Sides have been taken SE.

att touch pro2 300x249 Touch Pro2 With AT&Ts Name On It, Only You Call It The HTC Tilt 2

In all truthfulness, the one handset I never tire of looking at is the HTC Touch Pro2, it is simply gorgeous. Beyond the great looks, it’s a power house in its own right. AT&T subscribers have recently had the joy of knowing that the Touch Pro2 is finally coming their way and here we have an image of the Touch Pro2 with the AT&T logo. It also seems like the Touch Pro2 may be released under the name of Tilt 2. So this means the Fuze is not having any more kids? Fine with us, bring on the full touchscreen with a QWERTY!

Windows Mobile 7 Launch Expected In Q4

wm65 Windows Mobile 7 Launch Expected In Q4

In what seems like the strangest bit of WinMo news yet, DigiTimes has written an article claiming that Microsoft will have a two pronged strategy for the launch of Windows Mobile 7 instead of the anticipated single pronged one. According to the article, Microsoft will launch Windows Mobile 6.5 in early 2010 and later towards Q4 of 2010 will come Windows Mobile 7. But the WinMo 6.5 devices won’t be replaced; instead, Microsoft is planning on pitching Windows Mobile 6.5 as a budget OS that will compete with Android, while Windows Mobile 7 will be a high-end OS that will compete with the iPhone. So basically Redmond is going to keep both OS running on devices in the market. It’s not impossible, but would it really be a good idea, considering how much of an effort has gone into making Windows Mobile what it is today, for two versions to be in the market?

htc mega click HTC Mega And HTC Click To Surface In Q4

According to a recent DigiTimes article, the HTC Mega and HTC Click will see the light of day sometime in Q4. Of course we know that HTC won’t launch them under those names, but the handsets will be the promised mid-range smartphones HTC CEO Peter Chou was talking about and will bear the around-$300 price tag. The Mega is rumored to be a decently made Windows Mobile 6.5 handset featuring a 2.8-inch QVGA (240×320) touchscreen display, a 3 megapixel camera, GPS and a 528 MHz processor. The Click is still a mystery but it may just be an Android phone that would spike up the mid-range offering. According to a Merrill Lynch analyst Laura Chen, mid-range handsets like the Mega and Click will help HTC increase its revenue by 11 percent in Q4 2009 riding on an anticipated 19 percent increase in handset shipments. Well done HTC.

The HTC Leo is without question one of the most lusted after handset at present, since everything else we were waiting impatiently for has panned out (Pre, iPhone 3GS, Tour, you get the picture). Anyway, the gorgeous handset that will bring a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and dual-LED flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, 512MB ROM and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor has had a render of itself on every blog imaginable. Someone could actually just spend all day blogging about those blog-renders. But the latest of these images is one from the ai.rs blog. The folks swear it’s what the Leo will look like when we get it. All I can say is, please let this be true, because is possibly the best looking version of the Leo yet. HTC, we hope you’re watching.

samsung omnia ii Samsung Announces Which Lucky Counteries To See The Launch Of Omnia II In August

Samsung has given the official word on which countries will get the Omnia II. The list mentions a total of 14 markets and the surprising fact is that major markets such as the United States, U.K., Germany and France weren’t on the list. The Omnia II was slated for AT&T, but since Big Blue hasn’t made the official announcement yet, maybe that’s what’s keeping Sammy quiet too. The markets that are confirmed by the list are; Philippines, Thailand, Netherlands, Turkey, UAE, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Chile, Colombia and Australia. These will be in addition to Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, countries which have already received the Omnia II. For those of you whose country didn’t make it, well don’t lose hope yet, the Omnia II will see more of the globe as the year progresses.

9 New Linux OS Phone Babies From Panasonic And NEC

picture 32 9 New Linux OS Phone Babies From Panasonic And NEC

We live in a world of Windows Mobile, Apple (OS), BlackBerry, Android, webOS and Symbian phones. As such with all the glamour and pizzazz these platforms throw our way, good ol’e LiMo pretty much got side saddled. Sure Android and WebOS are Linux based, but the UI is drastically polished while LiMo by itself looks like it needs a shower. So we hope that Linux will get a new life with Panasonic and NEC taking it up, not just in any small way but with a full launch of 9 new handsets. Japanese mobile carrier KDDI and touchscreen company Immersion Corp are teaming up for the project but LiMo is looking for the big fish of the OEM pond. LiMo does hold the plus point of being a less costly open-source system, something manufacturers keen on reducing costs are sure to pick up on. But before LiMo can be the new BlackBerry….many a season must pass.
