Verizon To Shorten Exclusivity Terms In Certain Markets

Verizon Wireless just beat FCC to the exclusivity-ending chopping table; Big Red has just made its new policy regarding exclusivity over certain handsets known to all and it sure is interesting. Any device Verizon negotiates exclusivity for will be a VZW exclusive for no more than six months, at least as long as they are dealing with carriers less than 500,000 subscribers. Way to shine guys! According to CEO Lowell McAdams:
Any new exclusively arrangement we enter with handset makers will last no longer than six months – for all manufacturers and all devices… Exclusivity arrangements promote competition and innovation in device development and design. This new approach is fair to all sides.
So if you have a small time regional carrier (Sprint/T-mobile, etc need not apply) as your savior, you may be getting some cool devices a bit sooner, of course how many small time carriers actually have the kind of devices that Verizon negotiates exclusivity for is another debate altogether.
